Herbal Appetite Suppressant Will Create A Feeling Of Fullness And Thus Reduces Appetite

October 15th, 2007    Subscribe To Our Feed

That a food addict cannot help but eat without real cause or cannot even exercise restraint is quite well known and what was originally just a liking for particular foods may have developed into uncontrollable and binge eating without any regard to the consequences which will only lead to a not so magnificent obsession. And, when such food is not available then withdrawal symptoms set in including chills, dizziness and headaches as also inability to concentrate and also feeling nauseous and lethargic. What’s worse, food addiction can lead to other addictions and unless suitable means of treating the food addiction are not found, the problem could even turn life threatening.

Gymnema Helps With Dependency On Sugar

If you are a food addict or one that knows of a food addict, then you should consider herbal appetite suppressant as a good means of overcoming the problem, since herbs have been found to be effective in helping a food addict kick his or her habit. Take the instance of Gymnema that is herbal appetite suppressant that shuts out the taste as well as metabolism of sugar and which is very effective in helping overcome dependency on sugar.

There are many herbal appetite suppressants and they even come from far-off places that are very helpful in suppressing cravings for food and amla that is used in Ayurvedic medicines has a lot of nutrients which help people feel better as well as happier and is also a laxative, though not very strong.

With positive results usually seen after consuming herbal appetite suppressants it is hardly surprising that they are amongst the most popular diet pills available on the market today and they are effective in bringing a person back to keel once more in spite of binge eating since they help in reducing appetite and even prevents eating altogether as is the case with Hoodia herbal appetite suppressant.

Herbal appetite suppressants usually work by suppressing specific hormones and sometimes maybe even a part of the brain that is associated with hunger and cravings for food. Thus, receptors that carries signals of hunger to the center of your brain and which is known as hypothalamus are suppressed and in the case of Hoodia herbal appetite suppressant, the presence of a molecule called P57 that mimics the effects of glucose in your brain will help in prolonging a feeling of being full of food and thus prevents you from feeling hungry. Another alternative herbal appetite suppressant that is worth considering is known as Fen-Phen which is an herbal Phetermine which is effective though due to negative publicity was withdrawn from the market.

The bottom line is that herbal appetite suppressant contains much fiber that is good for your health and which makes a person feel full and thus helps eliminate cravings for food, and drinking a lot of water will help you expand the fiber in your stomach and thus promotes better health.

Food Cravings Is A Result Of Imbalance In Hormones Called Serotonin

October 13th, 2007    Subscribe To Our Feed

It is a well known fact that there are many women with habits that can best are described as cravings or which means needing a lot of sugar, carbohydrates and even maybe alcohol, and mostly such food cravings need not necessarily point to being a disorder of eating; rather, they could be symptomatic of imbalance in hormones that are a result of poor nutrition. So, the afternoon snack that you can’t do without may be something that is bothering you or it could even mean a chocolate bar, some candy or some other food that is not exactly rich with nutritious content that is a cause for concern.

Confused Signals

According to experts, food cravings occurs when the body begins to get its signals confused which can cause the brain to want more food in situations when a person is feeling blue and when there is low blood sugar or even low serotonin and such signals will cause you to crave for either carbohydrates or sugar. The hormone serotonin is a hormone that makes a person feel good and when its levels are low, there are feelings of sadness an also depression and unfortunately for us, it is sugars and carbohydrates that provide the required release from such feelings, albeit only temporarily and this why a person suffers from food craving.

What can contribute to your food cravings is when you try and lose weight with the help of low carb diets which often results in a person becoming resistant to insulin, at least partially and it is this insulin that helps keep blood sugar normal and is what makes the body absorb glucose from the blood. Thus, insulin resistance means that the body cannot respond to insulin and starts to get hold of as many calories as is possible and converts them into fat, which means that in spite of eating less you can still gain weight. In addition, not being able to absorb glucose makes the brain signal for more sugar or carbohydrates and consequently gives rise to food cravings.

Thus, to overcome food cravings, it has been found that many women are taking to Atkins Diet or even South Beach Diet which though they help, can also contribute to worsened metabolism which is due to the stress caused when a person diets. This means that it is better for a woman to consider improving her metabolism before trying to shed weight.

There is another instance when food cravings gets out of hand and that is a condition known as adrenal fatigue and this means that when a person is under stress, or is insomniac, or has deprived sleep, it would lead to much exhaustion that in turn causes adrenal fatigue that makes the brain signal for help. In response to these signals, one may then take to eating sugar or even taking carbohydrates or even a cup of coffee, which leads to food cravings.

So, if you want to do something about your food cravings, you need to do more than deride yourself and thus not feel low all the time which will only contribute to the problem as there will be a constant need for more serotonin and thus emotional eating may result. So, in order to reduce your food cravings, you need to give your body the proper support that it needs and the best way to do so would be to eat nutritious food and even taking nutritional supplements along with moderate exercising will go a long way in curbing your food cravings.

What Is A Food Craving?

October 12th, 2007    Subscribe To Our Feed

How do you differentiate between a food craving and a normal hunger signal because sometimes you can be hungry and crave a certain food. The difference is that while hunger is a normal feeling that signals the body’s need for food, a food craving is a strong desire for a certain food even when the person is not hungry or it can indicate the body’s need for nutrients or energy. A food craving can also be a symptom of a food addiction.

Familiar foods that people crave are sugary, salty, chocolate and pizza. It is common for women to crave sugary foods and for men to crave salty food although both sexes can crave both types and other food types.

Unhealthy Food Cravings

Many of the foods craved are unhealthy for us and this can cause problems. For instance, if someone craves sugary foods constantly, they could wreak havoc with their body’s insulin levels, which could activate a diabetic condition in their body. Another dangerous craving is the craving for salty foods because too much salt in the diet can cause hypertension and blood pressure.

Meeting Nutritional Requirements

When the body has specific needs for a nutrient, it will crave the foods that contain that nutrient or nutrients. An example is an athlete who craves foods high in carbohydrates because of the energy that can be derived from this food type. It is also common knowledge that pregnant women also develop cravings that can fill the body’s specific nutritional need.

Comfort Foods

Sometimes, people rely on a certain food to act as a comfort for them when the person is under stress. Chips and ice cream are common foods that are craved during stressful time. Everyone has a relationship with food and these relationships can be emotional.

Problem Food Cravings

When food cravings start to cause problems for your health or cause unwanted weight gain, then the cravings may be a sign of food addiction. If you cannot control your craving even when you try, then the craving is becoming unmanageable.

When you are unable to stop the food craving and cannot control your urge to eat the food, then the craving may be a symptom of a food addiction. If you have a food addiction, it means that you have an unhealthy relationship with food.

Understanding food cravings is important to understanding the difference between a craving and hunger. With this knowledge, you will be able to spot a problem craving and do something about it before it becomes a problem.

Food Addictions Is A Very Serious Aberration In Behavior That Must Be Dealt With Appropriately

October 11th, 2007    Subscribe To Our Feed

Food is such an essential part of our lives that we must be sure to take care to eat only those foods that are good for the health though such is not always the case. Given that there are many foods that are so delicious and which are very hard to resist, it often leads to food addictions that can cause serious consequences when they are not curtailed and treated in time. Food addictions are a reality for some though not all people, and there are a number of reasons why that, many of us would not have imagined were the real cause behind such a severe instance of over indulgence.

Processed Food Has Made Matters Worse

Everybody knows that eating compulsively has been troubling us humans from the very earliest ages, though with the advent of processed food, the problem has certainly been further compounded. In addition, manufacturers of food stuffs know that there is a lot of money to be made by selling food that appeals to a broad section of society and which tastes good, which if that were the only thing driving food manufacturers would not have been all that bad for consumers. But, when they add flavors and use artificial substances including caffeine and chemical additives, it can lead a consumer to be at greater risk of food addictions.

Though no food manufacturer will admit such is the case, there are nevertheless enough studies on such foods that belie these denials and which show that food addictions are directly attributable to the presence of such chemical additives which is making people eat more, becoming overweight and consequently at risk of losing their very well being permanently.

Though no two compulsive food eater will be the same, there are enough similarities that warn of the dangers of food addictions and most compulsive eaters will not be able to resist sweets and also snacks especially those who live sedentary lifestyles. Nevertheless, the problem with food addictions has been recognized and there is help available in the form of support groups, and science of medicine too has played an important role in providing drugs that will help suppress hunger pangs; but, there is still no solution in sight for the psychological reasons that cause food addictions.

So, before indulging you in the next unnecessary meal or snack, it will be to your benefit to realize that food addictions are a very serious and also potentially life endangering problem that must be dealt with properly, and if given some encouragement, support as well as finding alternative interests, it would help overcome the problem and not lead to needlessly gorging mouthful after mouthful of some food just to satisfy some unrelenting inner urge, regardless of the consequences.
