“Guided meditation script” is a fancy name for a simple concept. A lot of people, when they try to meditate, either fall asleep or keep having their mind stray off track to many other subjects (sometimes accurately called “monkey mind”). By paying attention to a voice reading or reciting from a guided meditation script, you can pay more attention to the actual meditation. The ancients used to chant – we moderns listen to a guided meditation script. The details are different, but the concept is still the same – to keep you mindful of the moment.

Where To Get Them

Guided meditation scripts can be found online or in books and metaphysical or Buddhist magazines. You can find them in books relating to meditation, Paganism, Wicca, Goddess learning, mystical Catholicism, unreligious self help books, self-hypnotism books and “working with your angels” books. Go to the “Mind, Body and Spirit” section of the bookstore and take your pick.

There will be places that will richly describe a scene that are usually titled “guided meditations”. There’s a lot repition in there and quite a lot of triple dots in between words. The best way to use these guided meditation scripts is to read them slowly and calmly into a tape recorder and then play it whenever you have a meditation session. That’s all there is to it!

Other Tips

If you are having trouble meditating, don’t worry about it. These things happen. Using a guided meditation script can help you focus on meditating. You might want to burn incense or a scented candle to get in the meditating mood. You might want to turn off all artificial lights. For some reason, some people have difficulty meditating in the presence of artificial light.

Don’t use the guided meditation script every time you meditate or you’ll get bored pretty quickly. And, years or moths later, you might dispense with them entirely, because you have learned to focus and calm down that monkey mind. You can make as many guided meditation tapes as you want, or you can buy ones already recorded. They are available in bookstores, metaphysical stores, some health food stores and all of their online equivalents.

There are even guided meditations online. They are very brief, but you don’t need to meditate for hours on end, unless you really want to. Some excellent short recorded guided meditations can be found at Beliefnet.com. They can be geared for certain religions or for no particular religion at all.
